Nintendo Registers Wii U Game Domains, New Hardware Shots Emerge
Wii U Sports, Wii U Music, NSMB Mii among domains registered
Nintendo has registered several new domain names that might give us a clue as to which titles it has in development for the Wii U, and new shots of the console itself have appeared online.
First off, let's have a look at the console – Japanese website Inside Games managed to get some photos of the unit, which was enclosed inside a giant, heavily-secured pod on the show floor and at the behind-closed-doors play sessions. There's a gallery of shots, including close-ups of the inputs.
As for those domain names, Nintendo World Report has uncovered a list of newly-registered domain names that all redirect to the Nintendo home page. Many of them are just Wii accessories with the letter "u" appended – "wiiuzapper.com", "wiiuwheel.com", "wiiuremote.com" – but some also hint at games, including WiiMusicU.com and WiiPartyU.com.
"newsupermariobrosmii.com" is also on the list, suggesting that the E3 tech demo might not be just a tech demo after all – New Super Mario Bros Mii would do well as an augmented NSMB Wii re-release.
Domain names aren't always used for actual websites, of course – companies often register them just to prevent someone else from doing so, or to use as redirects to another site.
