HD Remaster Of Grandia And Dreamcast Sequel Revealed For Nintendo Switch
If there wasn’t already an abundance of JRPG to enjoy on the Switch, soon there’ll be two more. According to IGN, Nintendo’s latest system will be receiving a high-definition remaster of the first two games, with more details to be revealed soon.
Grandia was originally released on the Sega Saturn in 1997 and received a re-release shortly after in 1999 on the original PlayStation. The sequel, Grandia II, followed a similar pattern, being first released on the Sega Dreamcast in 2000 and seeing an eventual release on the PlayStation 2 in 2002. An anniversary edition of Grandia II was also released in 2015 enhancing the game’s visuals and adding an additional difficulty level.
The original title was praised for its engaging cast of characters, colourful presentation, and smart design. The sequel was considered a standout game on the Dreamcast, with solid game mechanics and an advanced battle system, with the PS2 re-release still considered to be worthwhile playing.
