RetroUSB AVS

Beitrag von Seppatoni » Fr Mär 18, 2016 14:48

The new AVS Console was the biggest surprise on the show floor at PRGE 2015. This amazing new console plays 8-Bit NES and Famicom games in full 720p HD! It has four built in controller ports and two cartridge slots, one for NES and the other for Famicom games. This device is NOT a clone system, it's built around original hardware. It also does not use emulators. This is the most authentic way to play classic 8-Bit Nintendo games on your modern television. Best of all, it's going to sell for under $200!

In this demo we play take a look at the hardware and play a quick game of CaslteVania 3.

PLEASE NOTE: We could not use the original audio of this video because of copyright protected music being played in the arena. We hope to have a new demo video in the near future.

SPECS:
Video: 720p Wide Screen HDMI output, 60Hz (NTSC) and 50Hz (PAL)
Audio: 44.1kHz HDMI output with expansion audio from carts.
Display: Variable pixel scaling including integer options (1:1, 4:3, 5:3) with optional darkness scanlines.
Carts: Front loading NES, Top loading Famicom
Ports: Built in NES Four Score Pro, Famicom Expansion Port
Ports: HDMI Type A for video and audio, USB Mini B for power and data.
Cheats: 5 cheat code slots with built in code database supporting Game Genie, Pro Action Replay, Pro Action Rocky, and raw formats
Online: NA Scoreboard online score system through USB
Updates: Upgrade FPGA configuration and menu system through USB

Online: NA Scoreboard online score system through USB

Brian of RetroUSB, aka BunnyBoy at NintendoAge, is working on a device called scoreboard. Scoreboard will be fully integrated on both the PowerPak 2 and the HDMI NES. It interfaces with software on a PC to connect to the internet and stream high score attempts live. The NA server examines the data and verifies the checksum of the game to ensure that no game modifications or other cheats were used. If the verification clears, the high score will be posted along with the member's username. While they won't qualify for World records due to the fact the hardware isn't 100% stock (and presumably isn't immune to TAS Robots), it will be nice to have bragging rights and say "yeah I got a million points on XXX" and also be able to link to the database to proove it.

"First time I have an actual date AVS consoles are leaving the factory, unfortunately its July 26! 3-6 weeks later they will arrive here and go on sale."
