Earlier today, a European Nintendo fansite called N1tendo claimed an anonymous, reputable source provided them with a photo detailing the contents of the March 3 European Nintendo Direct. The photo showed computer file folders titled “Monster Hunter Generations,” “Lost Reavers,” and “Super Nintendo now on New Nintendo 3DS,” among others.
Naturally, we passed on reporting the information due to a lack of additional, justifiable proof or supporting evidence. However, a trademark application for the name “Monster Hunter Generations” was filed earlier today with the Office for Harmonization in the Internal Market (OHIM), as discovered by Twitter account NerdLeaks, lending credence to an otherwise flimsy rumor that was largely brushed off.
(Last week, NerdLeaks outed the Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon trademark applications — also filed with OHIM — one day prior to the games being announced in the Pokémon Direct.)
Worth pointing out, the Pokémon Sun and Moon trademark applications publicly state Nintendo Co., Ltd. as the filing company. But the application filed for “Monster Hunter Generations” excludes the company information to the public; however, the representative tied to the application, Javier Ungría López, is the same person who filed an application in 2015 for Capcom’s Umbrella Corps.
If the information from N1tendo turns out to be real, these are the games fans can expect to learn more details about during tomorrow’s European Nintendo Direct:
Fire Emblem Fates
Lost Reavers (formerly “Project Treasure”)
Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games
Metroid Prime: Federation Force
Monster Hunter Generations
Star Fox Zero
Yo-Kai Watch
With the exception of Fire Emblem Fates, the North American Nintendo Direct could possibly contain the same details, if not more or less.
