Nintendo-Gage , N-Gage :ugly:

Universal Studios Japan head honcho says Nintendo attractions will beat the crap out of Harry Potter attractions.

According to Mainichi Shinbun, the head of Universal Studios Japan says the Mario area will "exceed" Harry Potter. The head of Universal Studios Japan also says that not just Mario, but "many" of Nintendo's IPs are under consideration for the theme park.
Reaffirms the previous statement that the Nintendo area of Universal Studios Japan will be open by the 2020 Olympics. While it took $400 million to build the Harry Potter area at Universal Studios Japan, Nintendo Land may cost "beyond $500 million".
MULTIPLE attractions/restaurants/stores are being jointly developed between Nintendo and Universal Studios Japan. Looking like there is a possibility that Nintendo Land will be "officially announced" (unveiled?) to the public sometime before year's end.

Nintendo Is Now More Valuable Than Sony Thanks To Pokémon GO
Never thought we'd say that in 2016

The recent surge of interest in mobile title Pokémon GO has caused Nintendo's share price to double, which means that the company is now worth more than rival Sony.
On Tuesday Nintendo's shares jumped by 12 percent, contributing to a 120 percent rise since the app was launched. 2.5 trillion Yen (approximately £18 billion / $23 billion) has been added to Nintendo's value since release, giving it a market value of 4.5 trillion Yen (£32 billion / $42 billion). In contrast, Sony - which has enjoyed bumper success with its PS4 console this year while Nintendo's Wii U has struggled - stands at 4.1 trillion Yen. It's the first time that Nintendo has leapfrogged Sony in overall value since July 2014.

Last Friday, Nintendo broke a Japanese stock market trading record when it was responsible for the highest value of shares traded in one company in a single day this century. A staggering 476 billion Yen of shares changed hands within 24 hours.

Nintendo isn't the only beneficiary of Pokémon GO's success, of course. It owns 32 percent of The Pokémon Company, along with Creatures (which handles merchandise) and Game Freak (the developer of the original games). However, of those three companies, Nintendo is the only one whose stock is traded publicly - the others are privately owned, and therefore cannot be a target for investors. That means Nintendo is almost single-handedly reaping the benefits of the game's popularity, at least when it comes to the stock market.

Nintendo wants Anouma to create a new IP

In an interview with EDGE, Aonuma revealed that Nintendo has actually told him to make a new IP. But at the same time, they want him to continue with Zelda.
Aonuma wouldn’t say too much more beyond this. He did mention that he’s interested in the idea “of a game where I can live as a thief,” but didn’t elaborate further.

Aonuma’s full comment:
Actually, Nintendo has been telling me to create a new IP. But then, they’re also telling me to make more Zelda games. I can’t really share much; I’m not sure I’m allowed to say anything. But I really like the idea of a game where I can live as a thief. That’s all I’ll say.

Nintendo confirms news on 3DS, Nintendo Switch future that will affect PS5, Xbox Scorpio

ANYONE THINKING about buying a new console will want to know these facts about the Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo Switch before they start thinking about an Xbox Scorpio or PS5.

Sales have have been so good that Nintendo have already put in place plans to increase manufacturing efforts of their new console, which they have been talking up as taking on the Wii in terms of audience size.

However, buying the Nintendo 3DS or the new Nintendo 2DS XL may seem like a bad move right now.

The Nintendo Switch games list is starting to grow and is expected to be the Japanese games giant’s main concern for the foreseeable future.

It was predicted that the Nintendo Switch would cannibalise the 3DS market share, meaning it would likely go the same way as the Wii U.

However, countering this idea, Nintendo look set to keep supplying top games for their current handheld systems, and are even open to expanding their hardware options further.

Nintendo President Tatsumi Kimishima appears to have signalled this idea, while also calling into question the traditional lifecycle for the 3DS, 2DS and Nintendo Switch.

And while the Xbox Scorpio and PS5 won’t be direct competitors with the Nintendo 3DS, the idea that the Nintendo Switch could keep going well into the future without a natural lifecycle limit in place, will need to be factored in.

Talking during an investor Q&A, Kimishima is quoted as saying: “New Nintendo 2DS XL has screens that are the same large size as the New Nintendo 3DS XL, and can play more than 1000 Nintendo 3DS titles already released, at a very desirable price point.

“Our expectation is that if we are able to continue to provide enjoyable software, we will always meet the needs of consumers who want to continue playing on the existing Nintendo 3DS series.

“To that end, we are always thinking about what kinds of software consumers are going to want, and evaluating our hardware cycles to make sure that we are meeting that need.

“This means that our product lifecycles are not going to last for a set number of years, but will be flexible enough to change when required by changing consumer needs.

“In general, this is the sort of thinking we want to adopt for all our hardware development.

“We want to have flexible hardware cycles where the launch of new hardware sets off the development of the next hardware that will respond to consumer trends.”
