31.12.08 - Nintendos Wii war auch im diesjährigen Weihnachtsgeschäft in den USA schwer zu finden, und es gab vielerorts Lieferengpässe. Das schreibt die Washington Post.

Die Konsole verkaufte sich wie von selbst und wurde den Händlern aus den Händen gerissen. Nintendo hatte erst kürzlich die Produktions- und Liefermenge erhöht, um derartigen Lieferschwierigkeiten entgegenzuwirken.

Zusammen mit Amazons E-Book-Reader Kindle und UGG-Schuhen gehörte Wii zu den meistgefragten Produkten, die nur noch in kleinen Mengen in den Läden zu finden waren.

Ich hatte mal darüber nachgedacht, ob der DS die 30 Mio. packen würde. Ich war optimistisch, aber nicht sicher. Nachdem der DS jedoch auch im 2008 gute Zahlen erzielte, sind die 30 Mio. in greifbarer Nähe.
Höhere Softwarezahlen sind jedoch wünschenswert.

Eine Tie-Ratio von über 4 findest du zu niedrig?

Wie soll ich sagen? Für 'nen Handheld ist das ordentlich, zumal der DS mindestens noch zwei gute Jahre hat (kann im besten Fall auch drei oder vier sein). Die Tie-Ratio wird also noch steigen.
Aber gemessen an Heimkonsolen ist das nicht soooo hoch. Wenn Handhelds in Zukunft die dominante Spieleplattform sein will, sollte die Tie-Ratio auch jene der Heimkonsolen annähern. Das Potenzial zur zukünftigen dominanten Spieleplattformen haben die Handhelds allemal.

UK Software 2008

Wii games sales were up 153 per cent in units to 20.1m units sold last year compared to 7.9m units sold in 2007.

DS was the 'star hand-held performer', with the format selling 19.1m units of software in the UK during 2008 - up 28 per cent over 14.9 in 2007.

The PlayStation 3's first full year of software sales (the console hit the UK in March 2007) meant that unit sales were up 145 per cent over 2007, doubling from 4.2m games sold to 10.4m.

Microsoft also saw continued unit sales growth, with the number of games sold for the 360 up 51 per cent from 9.8m in 2007 to 14.9m in 2008.
